TACOMA, WA – The Tacoma Fire Department responded to an independent living facility in the 1600 block of S. Union Ave on Wednesday morning after receiving calls concerning heightened carbon monoxide levels.

The firefighters arrived at the facility just before 7 a.m. Wednesday. Crews helped evacuate some of the people who were living in the building and then ventilated it.

At 7:30 a.m., Tacoma Fire determined that the carbon monoxide levels inside the building were low enough for residents to safely come back inside. No one was injured and the cause of the elevated carbon monoxide levels was not disclosed.
