Spokane, Washington (February 29, 2020) – A motor vehicle accident that occurred on the intersection of North Driscoll Boulevard and West Bismark Place resulted in a driver getting trapped on Saturday night. According to the news release from the Spokane Fire Department, the driver was trapped behind the steering wheel of her vehicle, and crews worked to stabilize her and treat her injuries while additional crews from Spokane City Fire and Spokane Fire District 9 were called to assist. The driver was eventually freed and was transported to an area hospital via ambulance.

The incident occurred on 9:45 p.m. on Saturday night. Crews had to use heavy extrication equipment from Fire District 9’s apparatus, and crews were eventually able to remove the driver’s door and free the patient. The cause and circumstances of the crash has not been reported, but the incident is being investigated by the Spokane Police Department.

In rollover collisions, the car will come to rest on its side or roof, resulting in a dangerous situation which passengers might need to be extricated from. In side collisions, the greatest risk comes to the passenger on the particular side that received the impact. No matter the type of accident, all crashes are bound to cause a dreadful situation for all involved.
