Seattle, Washington – Rear-End Collision Near Community Center

Seattle, Washington (August 13, 2019) – A car was involved in a collision near High Point Community Center on 34th Avenue Southwest. As the car involved was a stolen vehicle, one person was taken into custody. Another person was reported to be checked over for possible injuries, but there have been no reports of anyone needing hospitalization.

The circumstances of the crash have not yet been detailed. The incident caused the High Point Community Center to be on lock down temporarily.

While this particular incidents involved an element of crime, accidents of any other causes can be just as dangerous. Of those accidents, 525 were fatal and 34, 311 were possible or suspected of injuries. This particular accident is a case of rear-end collision, also said to be the most common type of car accident. Like many other vehicle accidents, rear-end collisions often happen because of lapse of attention, usually when one vehicle follows another too closely. Injuries associated with rear-end collisions are neck injuries, particularly whiplash as the impact usually jerks the upper body forward. Wrist fractures are also said to be a common side-effect as victims instinctively use their arms and hands to brace their impact, causing the force of the crash to be directed at the wrist. Other serious injuries include broken bones, head and spinal injuries.
