YELM, WA – The Yelm Police Department is asking the public for assistance solving a hit-and-run accident that injured a 12-year-old boy.

According to The Olympian, the accident occurred after midnight on May 24 on Mountain View Road Northwest. The boy who was hit landed five feet away from the street, according to Det. Bill DeVore. The boy’s friend, also 12, ran to the victim’s house to tell the victim’s parents, who called 911.

An ambulance rushed the victim to Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia, and he was later transferred to Seattle’s Harborview Medical Center. His condition is currently unknown.

Police believe the vehicle that struck the boy is a Ford F250 or F350 pickup. Based on the evidence they found at the scene and the other boy’s description, police suspect that the pickup is either white or silver, produced between 2017-2020, and will have a side mirror recently replaced or missing.

Anyone with information about the driver of the pickup is encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
