SEATTLE, WA – A person died this morning after they crashed their car into a bridge support pillar near the Interbay neighborhood, reports Q13 Fox.

The accident happened on 15th Avenue West and West Garfield Street at about 2:30 a.m. when the victim, the sole occupant of the car, crashed an Audi coupe into a bridge support. The vehicle caught fire after the collision.

The victim was found dead inside the Audi when fire officials arrived at the scene.

There is no information available as to the victim’s identity or whether drugs or alcohol were involved in the crash.

The accident led authorities to close traffic in both directions on 15th Avenue for inspection of the crash scene and the bridge’s structural integrity. The roadway was opened a few hours later.

The accident is under investigation at this time.
