TUKWILA, WA (KING COUNTY) – A man has been charged in connection with a hit-and-run accident in Tukwila yesterday morning which resulted in the death of a motorcyclist, according to Skagit Breaking.

The accident happened near the intersection of southbound I-405 and WA-167 just after 3:50 a.m. when Snohomish man David Jones, 51, allegedly collided with the driver of a 1999 Honda XR100 motorcycle.

The motorcycle and its operator were wedged into the bumper of Jones’s vehicle, a white 2006 Chevrolet Express, and he reportedly failed to stop and render aid after the collision, driving onto the I-5 ramp.

The motorcyclist then fell from the wreckage and onto the highway. The victim, who has not yet been publicly identified by police, was pronounced dead at the scene and was wearing a helmet when the crash occurred.

Jones reportedly drove a few more miles from the scene of the crash before he finally called emergency services. He is facing charges of a felony hit-and-run, though charges may be altered in the future.

Authorities do not believe at this time that intoxicated driving played a role in the accident.

The crash remains under investigation at this time.
