SEATTLE, WA – A man riding a moped was fatally struck by a hit-and-run driver on I-5 in North Seattle earlier today, according to information from KOMO News.

The crash happened on southbound I-5 near Lake City Way at about 3:45 a.m., as a 36-year-old Seattle man riding a moped changed lanes. He then collided with a Toyota Prius, causing him to be knocked off of the moped. He then was hit by a second person operating a sedan, who fled the scene without stopping to render aid.

The moped driver was pronounced dead after the crash.

Authorities are searching for the driver of the sedan, who is facing possible charges of felony hit-and-run in connection with the crash.

Those with information on the accident are asked to contact Detective Haake at Russ.Haake@wsp.wa.gov.
