CLALLAM COUNTY, WA – A driver who was reportedly speeding was severely hurt after his vehicle crashed from the Hoh River Bridge in Clallam County on Friday afternoon.

According to the Washington State Patrol, the accident occurred about 11 miles southeast of Forks on northbound Highway 101, at about 1:15 p.m., when an as-yet-unnamed driver went off the side of the bridge.

The vehicle was airborne for about 260 feet, then crashed into a foot of water, about a 60-foot drop.

The driver was able to free himself from the vehicle and make his way to the riverbank before he was assisted by a group of fishers nearby.

He was airlifted to the hospital for the treatment of severe wounds.

No other injuries were reported in the crash.
