FRANKLIN COUNTY, WA — A suspected DUI driver was hospitalized Tuesday night after a serious high-speed crash into a parked Burlington Northern Santa Fe train in Pasco, according to KOMO News.

The incident occurred near the intersection of West Clark Street and North Tacoma Street at 11:20 p.m.

According to police, witnesses who were at the train yard saw a 2003 Toyota Corolla travel at an estimated 100 miles per hour past the T intersection and running past a stop sign before becoming airborne off the curb. Authorities determined that the vehicle bounced on the road a couple of times before crashing against the train, causing the driver to eject and land several feet away.

The man was transported to a nearby hospital with significant but non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said the driver, who will be investigated for suspected DUI and reckless driving, is also considered a suspect in a shoplifting incident that took place shortly before the crash.
