KING COUNTY, WA — A male driver was killed and his female passenger hospitalized after a crash on SR 900 near Issaquah early Monday, according to Q13 Fox.

Troopers with the Washington State Patrol said the incident occurred around 4:oo a.m. on State Route 900 between Issaquah and Renton. The man killed was 37 years old and a resident of Bellevue. He was driving a small gray sedan that appears to have veered into the oncoming lane, causing it to crash head-on into a box truck.

The sedan’s 33-year-old female passenger was taken to a local hospital. Though her condition has not been disclosed, troopers say she is expected to be OK. The driver of the box truck is also reported to be OK, though the extent of any injuries is not clear.

Sgt. Darin Foster with the WSP says that an investigation to determine exactly what went wrong is still in process. Suspicion of impairment or other possible causes have not yet been reported.

The crash caused the area to be blocked until at least 7:00 a.m.
