SNOHOMISH COUNTY, WA — A male pedestrian was killed Sunday morning after being hit by a vehicle while walking his dog across State Route 99 in Lynnwood, according to Lynnwood Today.

Lynnwood Police Department said the incident took place near the highway’s intersection with 204th Street Southwest.

The man, believed to be about 50 years old, was walking his dog near the middle of the highway when he was hit by a passing vehicle. Authorities said the victim had not been traveling in a marked crosswalk.

The driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene and cooperated with officers. Speed and impairment were not believed to be factors in the crash.

The man’s dog, who had been missing following the event, has since been located and returned to the victim’s family.

As of Tuesday, authorities continued to investigate the accident.
