According to Lacey Fire Dept, the person in need of aid had been at the Nisqually River since Sunday night, but rescue teams were unable to get to them until noon on Monday. The victim was rescued and reunited with their family without suffering any injuries.
Lacey authorities warn swimmers that the river can turn dangerous very quickly and that rescue teams sometimes cannot navigate the terrain to get to people who need help.
