TACOMA, WA – A person from Tacoma was killed when the driver of a semi-truck ran a traffic light on State Route 509 yesterday morning, according to KOMO News.

The crash occurred at around 9:30 a.m. on northbound SR-509, near Alexander Avenue E, after a semi-truck driver, a 34-year-old man from Bonney Lake, drove through a red light. According to the driver, he was checking his mirrors while making a turn and did not notice the light turning red.

The semi-truck then collided with a pickup truck being driven by 78-year-old Tacoma resident Huan V. Le.

Le died at the scene.

Intoxicated driving is not suspected of having been a cause of the crash.
