Driver who fatally struck stranded motorist charged with homicide

TACOMA, WA – The driver who fatally struck a motorist as he changed a tire on his vehicle on Monday has been charged with vehicular homicide, KIRO 7 reports.

Kyang Park, 78, had pulled onto the shoulder of I-5 near S. 38th Street that morning when he was struck by a driver who later told police she was checking Facebook on her cellphone at the time.

The driver responsible for the collision pulled over, called 911, and cooperated with police. She has no prior criminal record, and has been released from jail as she awaits trial.
