KING COUNTY, WA — A 50-year-old woman was killed Thursday afternoon after making an illegal U-turn in front of another vehicle on Interstate 5 in Tukwila, reports Washington State Patrol.

Authorities say the crash happened on the eastbound interstate approaching State Route 900 at approximately 12:43 p.m.

The woman was behind the wheel of a 1996 Ford Ranger pickup truck going east when she began an illegal U-turn in the far left lane. The move was made in the path of a nearby 2014 Chrysler Town & Country minivan, which collided with the pickup.

WSP said the woman had not been wearing a seat belt and died from her injuries at the scene.

The driver of the Chrysler, a 37-year-old man, was uninjured.

Both the pickup and the minivan were totaled as a result of the accident and were towed.
