Driver critically hurt in wreck with parked car near north Lynnwood

SNOHOMISH COUNTY, WA — A driver was hospitalized Friday afternoon after crashing into a utility pole and a parked vehicle off State Route 99 near Lynnwood, reports FOX 13 Seattle.

Washington State Patrol responded to the scene along the southbound lanes of the highway near 148th Street Southwest at about 1:00 p.m.

A preliminary investigation found the causing driver was traveling southbound when their vehicle ran veered off the roadway and struck the pole and an occupied vehicle parked in a nearby lot.

WSP said the causing driver was transported to Harborview Medical Center with critical, life-threatening injuries.

Authorities did not say whether or not anyone else was hurt.

The event left two right lanes on the southbound freeway closed to traffic.

Motorists were warned of delays as an investigation was conducted.

No further information has been released on the circumstances behind the incident.
