Covington, Washington – Barn at 176th Place Southeast Catches on Fire

Covington, Washington  (February 14, 2020) – A barn at the 28200 block of 176th Place Southeast caught on fire on Friday morning. According to the article from the Covington Reporter, the animals inside the structure were safely released and no injuries were reported in the incident.

The incident started when a neighbor noticed the fire in the barn and called 911 around 7:56 a.m. Crews from the Puget Sound Regional Fire Authority, with assistance from Mountain View Fire and Rescue, South King County Medic One and the King County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene. The cause of the fire was not reported.

It is fortunate that there were no human injuries in this particular case, and the firefighters are to be commended for their response. Like any other structure, farm buildings must be checked for fire safety. Most if not all the steps in fire safety involve securing the area of one’s business or residence.
