SEATTLE, WA – Two construction workers were thrown into Elliott Bay after Pier 58 collapsed on Sunday afternoon, according to KOMO News.

Two men, one 42 and the other 30, were taken to Harborview Medical Center with minor injuries. The 30-year-old remains in the hospital in a satisfactory condition and the 42-year-old was released on Sunday night.

The workers were removing heavy pieces of concrete off of the pier, which has been closed for construction since August, when it collapsed. Pier 58 has been set for demolition after city officials discovered that it was shifting near the sea wall.

Construction crews had been removing an extremely heavy portion of concrete off of the pier when it collapsed, according to KOMO.
