SEATTLE, WA — A construction worker was struck and killed while at the State Route 520 Montlake Project work site on Wednesday, according to KOMO News.

The victim was a 45-year-old male whose name has not yet been released. Authorities reported he was hit in the chest by an 11,000 pound steel beam which pinned him between the pillar and the flatbed trailer of a semi-truck under it.

The incident occurred just after 5:00 p.m. at the project’s construction site along the 2500 block of Lake Washington Boulevard East.

Crews on-site worked to free the man from between the beam and the flatbed and administer CPR before emergency medics arrived, according to a spokesperson with the Seattle Fire Department, but the man died while in transit to a hospital.
