6 King County children hospitalized for E. coli
Request Free ConsultationKING COUNTY, WA – Authorities re investigating after seven children become seriously ill from E. coli in recent weeks, six requiring hospitalization, Q 13 Fox reports.
The seven affected children began showing symptoms between April 17 and April 29, and were reported to King County Public Health between April 22 and May 1. Investigators have not been able to find a common connection between the cases yet.
Of the six children who were hospitalized—all of whom are under 14—one is recovering from hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS), a kidney ailment associated with E. coli poisoning. A second child may also have developed HUS.
