YAKIMA, WA – A 25-year-old man was killed in a wrong-way accident in Yakima on Thanksgiving Day that is suspected to have involved intoxicated driving, according to a report by FOX 41 Yakima.

The collision occurred on Yakima Valley Highway, near the intersection with Donald Wapato Road at about 5:15 p.m., when the driver of a 1999 Chrysler, a 25-year-old man from Buena, crossed the center line of the highway.

He collided head-on with a 2014 Chevrolet Cruz operated by a 19-year-old woman from Yakima.

Despite resuscitative efforts performed on the driver of the Chrysler, he died at the scene.

The Chevrolet’s driver and her passenger, a 25-year-old woman also of Yakima, were reportedly trapped within the wreckage after the accident. They were extracted and taken to the hospital for the treatment of non-critical injuries.

Authorities believe that the driver of the Chrysler was under the influence when the crash occurred.

The accident remains under investigation at this time.
