21-year-old man drowned in Alder Lake on Monday

EATONVILLE, WA – A 21-year-old man drowned in Alder Lake near Eatonville on Monday afternoon, despite rescue efforts from authorities.

According to a statement from the Pierce County Fire Department, the victim was about 40 feet from the shore with a friend when he began having a panic attack due to unknown reasons. Because of the panic attack, he went under the water and did not resurface.

Crews arrived on the scene at 4:32 p.m. Firefighters and rescue divers entered the water to search for the missing man. They found his body submerged a few feet underwater. Graham Fire & Rescue transported the victim to a local hospital, where he later died.
