BELLINGHAM, WA – An 18-year-old from Bellingham is facing multiple charges after he collided with a Bellingham Police vehicle, then fled the scene early this morning, according to KOMO News.

The accident happened near the intersection of Orleans Street and Barkley Boulevard at about 2 a.m. when the 18-year-old driver of a black pickup truck allegedly drove through a traffic light at a high rate of speed.

The driver then collided with a black BPD truck used for CSI, before fleeing the scene.

The police officer was taken to the hospital for the treatment of multiple wounds including a concussion before being released later.

Authorities apprehended the suspect and have arrested him on charges of hit-and-run and DUI.

The 17-year-old passenger with the suspect also received a charge, that of possession by a minor, before being released.

The teenagers were not reported as injured.

Both vehicles were totaled in the crash.
