Wapato, Washington (September 23, 2019) – Five people were injured, with two in critical condition in a two-vehicle collision at Lateral A Road and Progressive Road on Monday afternoon. The most seriously injured were said to have been the drivers of the vehicles involved. All the injured people were taken to either Virginia Mason Memorial  or Astra Regional Medical Center in Yakima.

According to the report from the Yakima County Sheriff’s Office the accident happened around 3 p.m. The cause of the crash is yet to be fully determined, but it believed that one vehicle went through the stop sign.

In 2017, the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT)  have reported a total of 120, 993 car accidents. Of those accidents, 525 were fatal and 34, 311 were possible or suspected of injuries. In rollover collisions, the car will come to rest on its side or roof, resulting in a dangerous situation which passengers might need to be extricated from. In side collisions, the greatest risk comes to the passenger on the particular side that received the impact. No matter the type of accident, all crashes are bound to cause a dreadful situation for all involved.
