BOTHELL, WA – Detectives are seeking witnesses to speak who saw the slaying of Bothell police officer Jonathan Shoop on July 13, especially the people in a vehicle directly behind Shoop’s when the shooting happened.

According to KOMO News, detectives from the Snohomish County Multiple Agency Response Team have identified a white Toyota 4Runner in security footage captured the night of July 13, which they believe was directly behind Shoop’s patrol car at the time.

Investigators are still trying to piece together events, as they believe the shot that killed Shoop came from his partner’s gun.

Shoop and his partner, Officer Mustafa Kumcur, attempted to pull over a vehicle when the traffic stop escalated and resulted in a shootout. Kumcur was injured and Shoop died at the scene.

Henry Eugene Washington has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder in connection with this crime.

Officials are hoping the occupants of the 1995-2002 4Runner will have information that will help clear up the timeline. They are encouraged to contact the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office.
