Spokane, Washington (April 30, 2020) – A deputy was injured and a five-car collision was reported in an incident involving pursuit of a suspect. According to the Spokesman-Review, a deputy was caught inside the driver’s side door got dragged for 20 feet before falling onto the road. While on the roadway, the suspect’s car drove over the deputy’s right leg with a rear tire, causing severe ankle pain. Fortunately, the deputy sustained no serious injuries and is expected to recover quickly. According to the article the pursuit ended in a five car injury crash, but there have been no further details about anyone injured in the crash.

The incident began when deputies from the Spokane County’s Sheriff’s Office was called to the 1700 block of East Coach Drive around 10:15 a.m. on Thursday morning. When police attempted to talk to the suspect, Kendall Fors, he got into a vehicle and backed out of the driveway. When the deputy walked to the car to order Fors to stop, he got caught in the door and ended up getting ran over. Fors fled the scene and eventually attempted to drive a red light between two stopped vehicles on East Sprague Avenue at Conklin Road, resulting in a crash. There, he was subdued by officers and was reported to be held in Spokane County Jail.

In rollover collisions, the car will come to rest on its side or roof, resulting in a dangerous situation which passengers might need to be extricated from. In side collisions, the greatest risk comes to the passenger on the particular side that received the impact. No matter the type of accident, all crashes are bound to cause a dreadful situation for all involved.
