Snoqualmie, Washington (March 22, 2019) – The male driver of a disabled Subaru was killed and a woman passenger injured when a bus collided with their car on the Interstate 90 around 5:45 am last Friday. The driver died on the scene while the passenger was hospitalized with injuries that were not life-threatening. The bus driver, who was the only person on the bus, did not sustain any injuries from the collision.

The bus was new purchase made by TransLink and was making its way to Metro Vancouver from Minnesota, and not a King Country Metro bus as initial reports have stated. According to one report, the Subaru was disabled and was reported to be blocking traffic shortly before the accident happened. In another article, the disabled car was said to have stopped or was slowing down when the bus collided with it despite braking.

In the aftermath, the car was shown with its back destroyed by the impact, while the bus has frontal damage. Two right lanes were blocked due to the accident, but was opened near 10 am.

About Vehicle Accidents

Vehicle accidents are common and may happen more frequently than you think. In 2017, the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT)  have reported a total of 120, 993 car accidents. Of those accidents, 525 were fatal ad 34, 311 were possible or suspected of injuries. This particular accident is a case of rear-end collision, also said to be the most common type of car accident. Like many other vehicle accidents, rear-end collisions often happen because of lapse of attention, usually when one vehicle follows another closely. Injuries associated with rear-end collisions are whiplash, because the impact usually jerks the upper body forward. Other injuries include broken bones, head and spinal injuries, as well as wrist fractures.

We urge everyone to practice proper driving and to always be cautious while on the road. Be especially careful on late hours, especially if the road is lacking sufficient illumination. Any mistake can lead to injuries and damage not only to your person, but on other people as well. Our sympathies and compassion extend to all who have been victims of such accidents.
