Seattle, Washington – One Person Dead in Water Rescue Call

Seattle, Washington (January 6, 2020) – One person was found deceased in a water rescue call on Monday afternoon. According to the report from Patch.com, the Seattle Fire Department and Harbor Patrol received a call about a person in distress before 3:30 p.m. Crews responded to the scene at 2nd Avenue Northwest and Northwest Canal Street. Unfortunately, firefighters found the victim deceased upon arrival. The recovery of the body will be conducted by the Seattle Police Department. The circumstances and cause of the accident has not yet been reported.

Preventing boating accidents comes down to ensuring boat safety regulations are followed. Like with any other vehicle, the vessel itself must be checked to make sure it is safe to use. Proper knowledge of the area where one will be boating is also encouraged. It is also important to make sure that all people on the boat have access to safety devices such as life jackets.
