Seattle, Washington – Four People Killed, Three Others Hospitalized After Crane Fell on Cars

Seattle, Washington (April 27, 2019) – Four people were killed and four others were injured after a crane crashed at the corner of Fairview Avenue North and Mercer Street. The people killed were two ironworkers and two people in the vehicles struck by the crane. A man, a woman, and a 4-month old child were take to Harborview Medical Center, and a fourth injured person was treated on scene. Near 7 p.m. of April 27, the woman and the child were going to be discharged, while the man is stated to be in “satisfactory condition.” A total of six cars were crushed in the accident.

The crews were apparently working on the crane when it crashed, and it would also appear that high winds might also be a factor in the incident. Two victims have been identified after the crash: Seattle Pacific Univesity freshman Sarah Wong, and ironworker Travis Corbet. The Washington State Department of Labor and Industries is investigating the cause of the accident.
