Richland, Washington – Brush Fire Shuts Down Highways

Richland, Washington (July 19, 2019) – A brush fire which broke out near State Routes 240 and 24 have closed the highways on Friday. According to the alert sent out by the Washington State Department of Transportation, the fire happened near milepost 37 of State Route 24. No injuries have been reported so far.

The fire caused the closure of State Route 24 at milepost 30 a the junction with State Route 241 to the Vernita Bridge area at the junction with State Route 243. State Route 240 is also closed at milepost 20. Response crews from the Washington State Patrol, Richland Fire and the Washington State Department of Transportation are working to reopen the highway. The cause of the brush fire has not been stated.
