Puyallup, Washington – Teen Driver Steals Car from Mother, Crashes at Church

Puyallup, Washington (July 2019) – A car crash occurred on the 701 block of 43rd Avenue Southeast where the teen driver had stole the vehicle from his mother. The boy had crashed due to running into two pieces of landscaping lumber. He was trapped on the scene of the crash caused his foot to be stuck between the parking brake and the dashboard until officers freed him. No major injuries were reported in the crash.

The incident started when the mother called officers to report that her 14 year-old son had snuck out and stolen her vehicle. By the time officers arrived to talk with the mother, she was on the phone talking to her son, who had crashed at a nearby church. After the incident, the mother requested police officers to charged her son for delinquency, and he was taken to Remann Hall. The date of this incident has not been specified, but it appears alongside other incidents in Puyallup Police Blotter in the date range of July 12-18.

In 2017, the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT)  have reported a total of 120, 993 car accidents. Of those accidents, 525 were fatal and 34, 311 were possible or suspected of injuries. Similarly, victims of side collisions and rollover collisions also suffer may also suffer head and neck injuries, though the risk is lower in these types of collisions. In rollover collisions, the car will come to rest on its side or roof, resulting in a dangerous situation which passengers might need to be extricated from. In side collisions, the greatest risk comes to the passenger on the particular side that received the impact. No matter the type of accident, all crashes are bound to cause a dreadful situation for all involved.
