KENNEWICK, WA – Kennewick Police have arrested the motorcyclist who crashed his bike and left his female passenger in critical condition after she was thrown off and into the road.

Police detained 39-year-old Alexander A. Maciel on Saturday after receiving a tip about his location, according to the Tri-City Herald. He is currently facing charges of vehicular assault, hit-and-run with an injury, and attempting to elude the police.

The accident happened on Sept. 22 when an officer attempted to pull Maciel over for speeding on West Canal Drive near North Fisher Street. Maciel instead sped away, but lost control on a bend in the road near Carmichael Street and crashed. His female passenger, Olivia Rivera, was thrown from the bike and suffered critical injuries.
