Pedestrian in critical condition after being hit by car in Renton accident

RENTON, WA – One person was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries yesterday after a car collided with a pedestrian in Renton early this morning, according to a tweet published by the Renton Police Department.

The crash happened at the intersection of S 3^rd St and Rainier Ave S, near the Renton Shopping Center, at 4:52 a.m.

The pedestrian, whose identity was not publicly revealed, was taken to Harborview for the treatment of life-threatening, critical wounds.

The driver, who also was not identified, remained at the scene following the crash. At this time, police do not believe the driver was under the influence when the accident in Renton occurred.

Authorities advised travelers in the area to avoid the scene, as the southbound lanes of the roadways were closed and heavy traffic delays were likely.
