SEATTLE, WA – One person was transported to the hospital after being hit by a stopped police vehicle on Interstate 5 in Seattle on Monday afternoon.

According to Trooper Rick Johnson, a Washington State Patrol Officer had pulled their patrol SUV to the left shoulder of northbound I-5 near South Michigan Street to investigate a car accident early on Monday afternoon. Another northbound driver hit the stopped SUV, pushing the vehicle into a person who was standing next to their vehicle, which was involved in the initial accident.

Authorities were able to apprehend the driver that hit the patrol SUV after their vehicle became disabled not far from the scene. That driver was arrested after authorities suspected they were impaired.

The victim was taken to Harborview Medical Center with injuries that did not appear life-threatening.
