SEATTLE, WA – One person was killed after they collided with a guardrail on I-5 in the Green Lake area last night, according to KIRO 7 News.

The crash occurred in the northbound express lanes of I-5, near the exit for Lake City Way, at about 5:30 p.m., when the driver of a passenger vehicle went off the ramp, over a barrier.

The car collided with the left guardrail, causing the driver to be partially ejected. The vehicle then crashed with the right guardrail before it came to a stop.

The driver, who was not immediately identified, died at the scene. Authorities stated that they were reportedly driving too fast for conditions when the crash occurred.

Authorities closed the express lanes as they investigate the collision.
