Fire breaks out on Yakama Nation land

YAKAMA, WA – A fire broke out on Yakama Nation land in Yakima County on Wednesday evening, sparking a second fire in the area besides the Evans Canyon Fire.

Yakima County and Yakama Nation firefighters responded to the blaze off Highway 97 near milepost 41 around 6 p.m. Wednesday night. As of 3:30 a.m. Thursday, they were still working to contain it, according to KIMA.

Officials are investigating the cause of this fire and are confident it will be extinguished soon.
