Ferndale, Washington – Rollover Crash on Interstate-5

Ferndale, Washington (April 9, 2020) – A rollover crash occurred on the southbound lanes of Interstate 5 when a vehicle attempted to avoid a collision. According to an article from My Ferndale News, an Acura swerved in the median to avoid colliding with a Ford hatchback that merged with the left lane from the right lane. The Acura ended up rolling over, but the driver, who was the only person in the vehicle, was able to get out on their own. The driver was treated on the scene by the aid crews and released.

The crash occurred on the southbound lanes south of Main Street around 5:45 p.m. on Thursday evening. The southbound Acura was in the left lane of the Interstate 5 when the Ford merged into the left lane from the right lane. The Acura swerved in the median to avoid collision, returned to the roadway, and crossed both lanes until the vehicle left the roadway on the west side. The vehicle ended up snapping off a single post sign and rolled over, ending on its side. Washington State Patrol Trooper Heather Axtman stated that they are investigating the scene as a hit and run but conceded that the driver of the Ford was possibly unaware of the crash when they left the scene.

In rollover collisions, the car will come to rest on its side or roof, resulting in a dangerous situation which passengers might need to be extricated from. In side collisions, the greatest risk comes to the passenger on the particular side that received the impact. No matter the type of accident, all crashes are bound to cause a dreadful situation for all involved.
