Ephrata, Washington – Structure Fire Causes Death of Chickens

Ephrata, Washington (November 2, 2019) – A fire broke out in an outbuilding near Railroad Avenue and Neva Lake Road Northwest on Saturday night. While no injuries were reported in the incident, the fire caused the death of nearly 2000 chickens. Firefighters were able to save some while handling the fire.

The fire was spotted by members of Grant County Fire District 13 as they were returning from a crash on Dodson Road. While firefighters were dealing with the blaze, Grant County PUD turned off the power so crews could safely extinguish the blaze. The fire was reported to be put out within minutes. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

It is fortunate that there were no human injuries in this particular case, and the firefighters are to be commended for their response.
