ELLENSBURG, WA (KITTITAS COUNTY) – A driver suffered minor injuries after colliding with the back of a semi-truck south of Ellensburg on Thursday morning, according to the Twitter account for the Washington State Patrol District 6.

The accident happened about 20 miles south of Ellensburg on I-82, near mile marker 18, at about 6:30 a.m., when the driver of a Jeep Cherokee fell asleep at the wheel, according to 560 KPQ.

The driver, 26-year-old Yakima man Moises Navarro Nunes, sustained minor injuries as a result of the accident.

Nunes received a citation for negligent driving.

Authorities advised drivers to pull over and take a break if they are growing tired while behind the wheel, and compared drowsy driving to drunk driving.
