SEATTLE, WA – A distracted driver struck and toppled a utility pole at an intersection in Seattle on Sunday morning, according to a local news report.

The small red SUV struck the base of a utility pole at the corner of 35th Avenue and Southwest Findlay Street early Sunday. The pole was sheared off at the bottom and began to topple. The crashed car and overhead lines prevented it from falling until repair crews could get to the scene.

Authorities reported that the driver was distracted when the accident happened.

The power company began repairs immediately. The northbound lane on 35th Ave and both directions of Findlay were blocked for some time.
