Coast Guard responds to fishing boat fire in Tacoma
Request Free ConsultationTACOMA, WA – The Coast Guard joined state-level partners in combatting a fire that broke out onboard a commercial fishing vessel anchored in Tacoma on Thursday, according to reports.
The fire erupted aboard the Aleutian Falcon, a 233-foot ship moored at the Port of Tacoma’s pier 25, at around midnight on February 18. It was continuing to burn as of 2 p.m. that same day. The incident was serious enough to warrant a concentrated response from both the Coast Guard and Washington State services.
The Coast Guard deployed at least three fire boats, a pollution response team, and a patrol boat to the Aleutian Falcon. Local authorities moved at least one nearby vessel, and instituted a no-wake rule in the area to prevent further spread.
It is unclear whether anyone was injured.
