Auburn, Washington – Worker Rescued from Debris in Collapse of Retaining Wall

Auburn, Washington (February 10, 2020) – A worker was rescued after being trapped by debris from the collapse of a retaining wall at Evergreen Way Southeast and Kersey Way Southeast on Monday morning. According to the report from KOMO News, the worker was conscious and able to talk, but had been buried up to his waist by debris. He was eventually extricated and treated on scene to stave off hypothermia, before being taken in stable condition to Harborview Medical Center.

The incident occurred around 10:30 a.m. Crews from Valley Regional Fire Authority responded to the scene after receiving a report of a man who was trapped. At the scene of the incident, crews worked to shore up the dirt and rock, and an excavator removed a block that was preventing rescue.
