15-year-old killed, 14-year-old hurt in Lake Cle Elum swimming accident

CLE ELUM, WA – An accident Thursday involving a sudden, strong current in Lake Cle Elum claimed the life of a 15-year-old boy and injured a 14-year-old girl.

According to KOMO News, the accident happened at the Wish Poosh campground, near the boat launch, when a family was pulled in by a strong current while they were swimming in the lake.

Most of the family was able to eventually make it to shore, except for the 14-year-old girl, who was rescued by emergency crews, and the 15-year-old, who was not located that day.

A crew of divers located the boy’s body Friday afternoon, according to the report.

The 14-year-old girl has been taken to the hospital for treatment and is expected to recover.
